Cliff Jones

Cliff Jones was a transformative figure in Welsh rugby, blending world-class skill on the pitch with decades of devoted leadership off it.

As a fly-half, his tactical brilliance and "mercurial" style earned him 13 caps for Wales, most notably in the historic 1935 victory over the All Blacks and as captain during the 1938 Triple Crown campaign.

However, his heart remained in his home village, where he served as President of Pontyclun RFC for an incredible 38 years. His influence reached its peak in the 1980s when he simultaneously presided over both his local club and the Welsh Rugby Union, the first person to do so. His dedication led to his earning an OBE for his services to the game.

To this day, he is remembered as the ultimate "club man" who put Pontyclun on the international rugby map.
