Pontyclun Community Walk routes
The Community Council is delighted to launch 5 local community walks which showcase some of the great scenery and history of our area. These Badger walks go across our whole community and are a great way to enjoy the outdoors and learn a bit about our area.
Working in conjunction with the Ramblers these routes use existing footpaths to create some lovely circular routes for people to enjoy.
Details of the walks can be found on our website here
Oliver Wicks Project manager for Ramblers Cymru said “Grass roots projects such as the Pontyclun Badger Walks are a great way to put walking at the heart of communities and really help local people and visitors find their feet. The desire of the Community Council and local volunteers to showcase the best walking spaces in the area and commitment to the project will ensure sustainability and that walkers will have a positive experience for years to come.’
Over the next few months we will be publishing printed leaflets for the walks and with help from Taf Ely Ramblers and The Pontyclun Environment Group waymarkers will be put up to help guide walkers around.
2 more routes are being developed and we hope these will go live later this year.
The Council is also working with local historians and aims to launch phase 1 of its History trail soon.
